Started my Saturday off by getting up hella early and participating in a CPR class at work. It wasn't mandated or anything. I just wanted to take the class. In the class, was this chick would NOT shut the fuck up. She had a quip, comment or something irritating to say to interrupt the instructor about every 7-10 minutes. And the comments were generally NOT germaine to the presentation at hand. Seriously, shut the fuck up and keep your internal dialogue internal!
After the CPR class I booked it home, but decided to stop and get the car washed. With the weather and my overall laziness over the few couple of weeks the G8 was looking really rough. So it got the normal wash and a treatment for the leather/plastics inside and outside of the car. Since I have never owned a car with leather, and I intend on keeping this vehicle for as long as I possibly can, it seems natural to take care of the leather. So the car is washed in the normal *lane* with the other vehicles. Then it's brought under this canopy type place where the guy proceeds to give a lot more attention I thought the extra $13 warranted from the normal car wash. I thought I was anal. This guy went through the interior of the car with a fine cloth and didn't miss an inch.
While it's being detailed, I overhear a guy looking at it and pointing out how, "it's like that GTO that Ford makes". Err, no sirree, Pontiac makes the GTO and this G8. I feel bad having to correct the dude in front of his chica. This this other dude was staring at the back of my car and typing into his phone. I didn't know if he had snapped off a pic or not, but it was a little irritating. Perhaps it was nothing, but it felt a tad creepy. Finally, this lady and I guess her daughter/grandaughter struck up convo about the car. What it is, what makes it special and what not.
I am very disappointed that Pontiac, well more to the point, GM has decided to cancel the G8 in the US. I sort of sensed it coming. With gas prices being what they were over the summer and the utter lack of advertising for the vehicle, it didn't seem like GM was planning on keeping this pony in their stable for the long haul. Which is a damned shame. The G8 represents a combination of value, performance, features, luxury and panache lacking most American car companies's lineups. But I think folks here that it has the same V-8 as the Corvette and that it's an "American car" and decide it's an unreliable, gas guzzling piece of junk - which it is not. It get the same freeway and city/freeway gas mileage as many V-6's current on the market. It doesn't require premium fuel. And it's way more comfortable and fun to drive than many of its foreign import brethern.
Tonight we also hosted another Game Night using Scene It! This game is hella addictive and very cool. It also has the added benefit of making it VERY difficult for Tonya to cheat at!! Every now and then she would yell out and complain about the controller not working, but they ALL worked! It was also Irish Car Bomb night too, and pretty we had about 3 or 4 of those each. It was great having peeps over!
