I'm baaaaaack

Geez I dont remember the last time I updated this thing so its about time. First off Im staying at my friendsEplace for awhile. My roommates bought the house in Lompoc they wanted. The old house is currently being repainted, fixtures in dire need of replacement swapped outEou name it and the house is getting it. Its been a huge pain in the ass. On the one hand school, et al, and then on the other my other roommate bitching and moaning about everything they can possible get her hands on.

The guest room where Im staying doesnt have I-net, so I wont be able to do blog updates as often as I would like.

There isnt a whole lot to talk about.

All work and no play

Someone upstairs is looking out for me. Lately have been feeling like so much is out of whack. Anyway today I talked one of my friends and they shed a very interesting light on this whole school thing. They suggested that instead of stressing over school, I should actually try to enjoy it. Enjoy the process of going to class, meeting people, studying, being on campus and simply just being a student. Because when it is finished it is really is done. There is no going back. There is also no prolonging it. Ive been so caught up in being done, making all the rightEmoves, etc. I have forgotten WHY I came here in the first place. Thanks Anne.

Does anyone know about primers on Vector Graphics? Im interested in learning more about them and creating some of my own. The next version of the Treehouse will incorporate some.

Walk and talk

Today Jennifer (not one of the ones I loathe) drove up and spent the day with me. It was freaking awesome. We talked a lot about the crap we were going through and she offered to come on up and kick it with me. Its awesome when someone is that selfless. She took ME to lunch. How dope is that?? She drove here and then turned around took me to lunch. Afterwards we went for a walk to walk off some of the 1000 calorie meals we ate. It was hotter than Hades!! Theres a reggae song called E6 degrees in the shadeEby Third World. And thats EXACTLY what it felt like. Afterwards we came back home, and then I passed out watching TV from utter mental, physical, and whatever kind of exhaustion from all thats been on my mind! Thank you so much Jennifer!! Unfortunately she left this evening.

Bad boys, bad boys, whatchya gonna do?

Bad Boys II came out today!!! Wooohaaa!!! Max and I went to see the matinee showing of it, cause well we are broke like that! I HIGHLY recommend seeing it! If youre not into chase scenes, guns, hot chicks, and cool shooting scenes skip it! BBII is better than the first! Everything from the first is there: very colourful metaphors, kick ass chase scenes, Lawrences and Smiths rapport and some really really cool REAL action sequences. No doubt some of that stuff was computer generated, but from what was in press conferences the director Michael Bay made a concerted effort in keeping the action real for the most part. It was a kick ass joy ride!

Worthy mention: Gabrielle Union is freaking breathtaking!!! She plays the sister of Martin Lawrence. How can you NOT love her??

On the way out the theater I ran into someone I would have preferred not to. Dont you hate that, youre out having a great time and then you see someone and they just turn your stomach? One of my acting buddies has a saying, about people they dont like: they are dead to me. I havent gotten that good to turn off my emotions like that, but I cant for the day to come where I dont have to care about running into people who arent worth the energy. Anyway, I got over shortly after. Only remembered to write this entry.

Pays to be a member

Talk about it pays to know people or at least be remembered haha! So I head to campus to study and head in the main gate off of 217. I get out my wallet and ask the guy how much for a permit for the rest of the day, and they guy is like Ehey I know you! He is in my Stats class and we chatted for a second. When I was about to pay he was all, I got you and does the Sammy Sosa pounding his fist into his chest thing. Of course I returned the gesture cause that is proper protocol. Parking for today: $0.

Waif

I had lunch on the beach today and noticed all these really skinny girls getting their tan on. The thought occurred to me that, for this time in history anorexicEis in. Back in the 80s, we would have called people so skinny you could count their ribs EthiopiansEor something bad like that. Then back in the days of old Hollywood, where actresses like Marilyn Monroe and Veronica Lake, the average woman on screen was a size 13/14 and everyone thought they were fine as hell. Personally I like a woman with some meat on her.

new photo galleries

I want to frigginEpunch a wall, I am THAT frustrated right now. School, this relocation and everything else is working my nerves. On the upside Tasha stopped by and we hung out for awhile. She now has my latest 80s compilation. 3 CDs, almost 70 songs, and almost 3.5 hours of music. The oldies and goodies baby. Rock, rap, slow jams and everything else is in there.

I added 2 new photo galleries today. One was from the hike I did with Tom and Scott. And the other was is from the Peterson Auto Museum from this past fathers day. There are some really dope pics in both. Take a look.

Click here to go to the gallery.

hail the power tool gods

I played with power tools today and it was gooooood. There was a sheet of セ・plywood that I had stuck under my old mattress for support. However back in January I ponied up and got more support mattress. Made a HUGE difference! Anyway, I got the idea of slicing it up and making a new entertainment center out of it. My 粗ntertainment center・is a couple of pieces of uneven plywood and 4 concrete blocks.

With the house clear, I setup shop in the driveway. Then drew the lines and proceeded to cut. Damn power tools rock! 45 minute later circular saw, power sander and power planer had been put to good use. The net result was 3 new shelves that will look great. Finally be able to put the center channel under the TV rather than ontop! Translation: surround sound will sound that much better.

missing my coconut bra

I woke up this morning to a bathroom missing a sink, dust on its floor, and a wet/dry vacuum cleaner in the tub. Nice. Anyway, I headed out to the Burn the Divorce Papers TikiEParty my friends had. Long story short, they were separated for a little while and got back together. Damned good excuse to have a party if you ask me. I was resident grill master and I grilled ALL damned day!! I fired the grill up at 3:55PM and turned it off at 9:00PM. At no point did Bill and I stop! As soon as we put the food out, it was gone and it started all over again. Thankfully Tasha, Mollie, Laura, Cami and Alecia all took care of the prep work. It was kick ass day by the pool and in the Jacuzzi.

Constructicons would be proud

Seems like the construction has begun on the house. In the works are a totally redoing my bathroom. It will get a new sink, bath enclosure and possibly new floor tiles. To that, I have been greeted bright and early with loud sanding, cutting, shoveling, and sawing. Yay.

Ciao bella!

Tonight Dottie took me to Pascucci here in town. She didnt believe that I had never been there and took it upon herself to enlighten me. haha! And of course we go there, and we run into about a dozen people she knows on the way. One of the waitresses was also a friend, and that paid off: she got a free crme brulee! It pays to be a member!

Let's make lots of money

There was this show about how much and what these filthy rich people spend. Billionaire level bling bling. Here are some things I learned from watching VH1s piece on how the filthy rich roll:

1) For a princess, Moet champagne isnt decentEenough
2) Coked out techno music mavens can spend $60,000 for a release party at the Miami Vice House
3) It is fashionable for billionaires daughters to wear 5EPrada heels to their inner city volunteering gig
4) Affording a 6 carat engagement ring is the litmus test getting at a filthy rich woman
5) The rich can spend $400,000 for a weekend booty call in Palm Springs
6) Aforementioned techno mavens will shell out $5000 in dresses for female friendsE7) Britney pays $6000 per day for her hair stylist
8) Millionaire man-whores dont rent, they buy brand new 2004 BMW 745iLs
9) Giving the aforementioned 745iL to rich blond hotness doesnt get in
10) Lastly, I have a LONG ASS way to go!!!

T3: Rise of the Migraines

When your teacher says the take home midterm won't take your whole weekend, be really, really dubious! I was up until 3:30AM working on it. All total: 11 pages, 7 questions and 6 parts per question. With extra sheets, the total came to about 16 pages handed in.

I've been awaiting T3: Rise of the Machines with really not that much anticipation. Come on, let's admit it, Arnold was showing his age in The Seventh Day. The Seventh Day being that really weak cloning movie he did a few years back. I think his presence was diminished because of all the dry humor that was written for his character. What was up with how and where Arnold got his clothes?! LAME! Further, terminators are NOT supposed to be funny. Same thing can be said for the T-X, played by Kristanna Loken. Granted Kristanna is FINE and she did pretty cool job of being sinister. However, she is the antagonist and she is supposed to be bigger and badder than the T-1000 she replaces. Do we get to see her get her hands dirty killing a few folks? Nope. The camera pans away before anything can be revealed save for a splash of blood here and there. This movie gets 3.5 stars. The .5 stars comes from the most destructive car chase scene to date. On the one hand, you have an old T-101 who is trying to crack jokes and use the basic Psychology programmed into his CPU. And then on the other hand, you have a new T-X, although fashionably dressed makes a pitiful terminator. Matinee material.

Sunset.

[Listening to Blur EWoo Hoo]
Or at least thats what I think the band and song title is. Last night I passed out hella early and ended up sleeping through my alarm. Almost missed my second class, but made it in time to catch the last bit. Then met up with the chair who is working with me on my self-directed class. Exhaustion is just one word for what Im feeling right now.

Began packing my room and it wasnt as traumatic as I would thought it was going to be. More than anything, I just scoffed at the stuff that I accumulated over the years. Well some of that junk isnt making it to my next place.

Upside is this weekend is a 3 day weekend! Woohaa!! Stopped by Camis office to grab some more boxes and heard about an impromptu beach BBQ get together. I was going to the beach to study anyway. Actually it was good to not study for awhile. Have been doing not much else since last week. It was a lot of fun hanging around my friends, at the beach, and seeing that classic summer sunset our town is known for. Im gonna miss it.

At my first job, one of the developers had a 6 foot wide print of Wile E. Coyote chasing the Road Runner, and the caption read, Insanity is doing the same things over and over again expecting different results.E Something along those lines has been occupying my mind. Specifically regarding people that are better off left behind. However you want to make things right, because well, all stories should have a happy ending, right? Not so. Some stories dont have happy ending. Some stories have down right crappy endings. However pursuing the saga doesnt let the story end. Rather the story and its accompanying drama endures. While channel surfing tonight, came across that 80s flick Cocktail with Tom Cruise. It was just as he was confronting the older chick he was breaking up with. He said, there are no happy endings; otherwise there would be no endings.E Sometimes pop culture can contribute something profound. Some chapters need to end, that other stories may be told. Days need their sunsets, that nightfall may bring new days.

[Semisonic - Closing Time; this just came on as I was finishing this entry. Could the irony be anymore delicious?]

A summer on Antigua

Today I had one of those moments, where something stimulates a sense and youre taken back to somewhere back in time. I was walking towards the kitchen and got a whiff of what smelled like BBQ or something burning and it took me back to a summer I spent in Antigua with my cousins. We did a lot of cooking outside that summer. The memory was immediate and very vivid. Antigua is an island in the Lesser Antilles and Barbados is its more common counterpart. That summer was interesting on a lot of levels, because my cousins and I are reeeeaaaallly different. It was fun nonetheless. Like, my little cousin had the uncanny talent of running up (literally) coconut trees that were 2 or 3 stories tall sans ANY safety equipment. Another of the highlights came when I looked at this mountain at the back of their property and figured one day that I would climb it. So one morning I got up and climbed it, because, well, yes, it was there and I was bored haha! The climb wasnt too bad, because it wasnt a sheer face, but I had to hug it all the way up. Well I got to the top, and the view was breathtaking. The harbor was to my 12 oclock and the town was to my 3 oclock and a stand of trees was to my 9 oclock. After about awhile of admiring this view, something hit me: just how the hell am I going to get down?!! I couldnt just WALK do the side. It took about 3 hours to get back down, very slowly and carefully. All of that was triggered from a single smellE/textarea>
