Corporate Ass Kissing

Today was one of those horrible dayes in retail. We didn't do so well in the numbers today and that didn't make me happy, but we didn't HAVE anyone to sell to so what the hell could we do? What pissed me off more was there wasn't anyone to SELL too and we had managers breathing down our throats. PC and home theater's numbers can greatly effect the stores overall numbers. The last 4 days running we have been kicking ass and taking names later. But today we didn't have anyone to sell to! We also didn't even have POWER till about 11:00AM! That should've been read as a freakin' harbinger. Oh yea, and we had corporate in too. The managers were practically tossing the corporate guys' salads. Still even more annoying every 20 minutes our supervisor AND sales manager AND corporate was breathing down our throats. And then this sales manager in trainer kept grabbing me to talk to customers who didn't need or want to be talked to, so I would go over there and they'd be like, "no I'm good thanks". I'd be left looking at a moron and god knows what the manager would be left looking like. We already think he's useles.

Bitch session over.

Gaming pretender

I am a gaming pretender and you know what, I'm not ashamed to admit it. The last computer game I was really into was Half Life. After I lost my CD Key, I gave up on trying to play it. To top it off my computer has been more than sub-par in the requirements department, so it's alleviated me from worrying about gaming. Ok, the honest to god truth is, once I get hooked on a game I go at it till it's comepletely done.

Well I've gotten my hooks into FarCry, a kick ass first person shooter, with graphics that will bring the average computer to its knees. I am HOOKED on its game's play, graphics, and everything about it. My computer has the drive space, RAM and processor, but the graphics are lacking. Which is why I never really paid attention to games, knowing my computer isn't totally up to snuff. Well dammit it needs to get up to snuff!! FarCry is rocking all kinds of hard. Half Life 2 is on the way, whenever iD can get the damned thing shipped. And Doom III's arrival is imminent! Grrr. Gotta get on the ball.

Wedding Weekend

Alright, so I have been most remiss in not writing about this past weekend where Nils and Shaniika got married which was an awesome event. So here's the rundown:

Thursday I drove up to Delaware LATE! I was supposed to have been on the road and hair already re-twisted, but the damned salon never called me back. Grr. Few things are more irksome than people canceling an appointment without at least saying something first. It was great to get up there though! I took my computer because there was going to be some serious LAN gaming going on. Chaos and mayhem -oh my!

Day before the wedding: Friday was the dress rehearsal and that turned into a quite a funny scene as we tried to get our routines straight. The bridesmaids and groomsmen were to come in on opposite sides of the church, on beat to this march, and then meet in the middle, do this turn and part ways. Well it was proof positive that not all people of colour have rythmn! haha!

The bachelor party was supposed to have been Thursday, but in the interest of baby sitting, we opted to make ours Friday so the bride and her girls could get out and have fun. After the rehearsal we were all pretty damned tired and more than half of the groomsment felt it was past their bed times. We ended up going back to Nils, getting drinks and snacks and hanging out. Which with these group of friends is fine because my boys are all damned fun.

Wedding Day: Saturday we got up early to get Nils, Hugo and my hair taken care of and then we bee-lined it to the church. At which point it hit me: Nils is getting married! This guy whom I've known for the last 25 years! This who we used to blow stuff up, set stuff on fire, competed in belching contests with and god knows what else!

The ceremony was great because it was short and to the point. I've been to weddings which were long ass productions that rivaled the Oscars. In those things the actual act of being wed takes 2nd fiddle to seeing how much crap they can stuff into the ceremony before the 'I do'.

Side note: I wanted to bitch slap the wedding photographer. He was freaking annoying telling use we had to be read in 5 minutes. And we were all like, are paying YOU mofo!

Sunday was bittersweet as Hugo and I drove Nils and Shaniika to the port for their cruise. I really didn't want to leave. I got in at about 3:30AM and had to be at work at 6:30AM.

All weekend we ate like kings and queens! There was all kinds of great foods from back home and we were living it up. And on Sunday Shaniika's mom did this huge breakfast and we ate quite well too! Man!

Back from marital melding...

It's 3:13AM and I'm JUST getting back to my room from a great weekend, whose highlight was seeing one of my oldest and bestest friends get married. Over the weekend all of us groomsman averaged about 2.5 hours of sleep per night. Suffice it to say that I'm not going to recap my weekend at this very moment, because well, I AM FREAKING TIRED! On top of that I have to go to work at 6AM! Yes, I have to go to work in about 3 hours.

On the way back home from I replayed one of my favorite songs over and over again in the car, as the lyrics are simply awesome. I draw my own personal meaning out of the song, feel free to find your own.

"It's Been A While" by Staind

And it's been awhile
Since I could hold my head up high
And it's been awhile
Since I first saw you
And it's been awhile
Since I could stand on my own two feet again
And it's been awhile
Since I could call you

And everything I can't remember
As fucked up as it all may seem
The consequences that I've rendered
I've stretched myself beyond my means

And it's been awhile
Since I can say that I wasn't addicted
And it's been awhile
Since I can say I love myself as well
And it's been awhile
Since I've gone and fucked things up just like I always do
And it's been awhile
But all that shit seems to disappear when I'm with you

And everything I can't remember
As fucked up as it all may seem
The consequences that I've rendered
I've gone and fucked things up again

Why must I feel this way?
Just make this go away
Just one more peaceful day!

And it's been awhile
Since I could look at myself straight
And it's been awhile
Since I said I'm sorry
And it's been awhile
Since I've seen the way the candle lights your face
And it's been awhile
But I can still remember just the way you taste

And everything I can't remember
As fucked up as it all may seem to be I know it's me
I cannot blame this on my father
He did the best he could for me

And it's been awhile
Since I could hold my head up high
And it's been awhile
Since I said I'm sorry

So it begins...

Today I head up to Delaware for Nils' wedding this weekend. The weekend promises to be very eventful. I knew he would be the first out of me and him to get married! He's the reliable type like that. What does that make me? The other one...haha! The wedding is Saturday, and prior there will be LAN games up the wazoo and of COURSE the bachelor's party! Woohaa!! The guys at work are on my ass about when I'm going to get married. I'll get married when I'm damn good and ready...lol.

To Nils and Shaniika - congradulations!! Those 2 work well together. I remember watching them interact when I stayed with them, there was some symbiosis thing going on there. Coolness.

Lastly today one of my most annoying pet peeves occured: an appointment I made to get my hair re-twisted fell through. This appointment was made weeks in advance to make sure that I got a spot. Grrr. I had an ex tell me one of the things she liked about our relationship was that we could make plans months in advance and knew those plans would be kept. That level of reliability in her I loved too.

Best laid plans and all

For some reason, I slept only 2 hours this morning. Well, no I know EXACTLY why I didn't sleep long last night. I have a tiny window of when I get drowsy, of rolling over and actually sleeping. Last night I missed that window and was up for most of the freakin' night! Grrr!!

Today I dragged ass all day at work with no sleep. We had a decent day nonetheless, but the drive home was a trip. The intention was to go to the gym after work, but something told me to just head home. I barely made it home where I fell out. The plan was to take a nap and head off to the gym - oh I wasn't having any of that. I promptly passed out after getting home and slept hard.

VH1 I Love the 90s, the 1991 episode was on and had me rolling. Talk about flashbacks. You can rag on Colour Me Badd all you want, but they had the best tracks off the New Jack City soundtrack!! I burnt a hole in that CD with my CD player, because it was so good! And C&C Music Factory...oh yea babe!! Make you sweat till you bleed!!

200% Humidity

So now I know the difference between a dry heat and H-U-M-D-I-T-Y!! Good grief! The last few days haven been freaking humid. Where the 10 yard walk from my car to inside the store, has me SWEATING like I jogged 3 miles in a friggin' sauna! When by virtue of simply standing outside, your back and front are wet and you are NOT sweating, that is 200% humidity!! Oh yea, top this with random monsoon torrential rains. Oh yea, good times.

Oh yea, ran 2 miles in 28 minutes this week!! Woohaa!! Yea, people run faster, so what? Bite my ass! Considering 2 months ago, jogging a 1/4 mile would have me keeling over, I'm pretty damned proud of myself. :)

Day after yesterday

Didn't do anything for the 4th, save for going to work Got to delete another stupid piece of blog spam. At least now I can catch them faster than before. Effin' retards. Do people actually GO to those stupid links??

In the mornings I usually pack my bag with my MP3 player and work out clothes in the event that I get up energy to go to the gym after work. I was literally at the stop sign when I said, the hell with it and went. It never fails to disappoint and don't know what insist on wondering if I should go. To keep the workout going, I've been steadily adding weight and watching my form. In a couple of weeks it will be officially 2 months since this whole thing began. Around that time things will get switched so my body doesn't adjust too much. Who woulda thunk going to the gym would become a regular thing for a world class couch potato like myself.

There's other stuff going on too. I've been wondering how my friends in SB are doing...folks like Beth, Mike, Sammy, Cami, Max, John, Mollie, Alana, my old roommates, folks from old jobs and a whole bunch of others. Part of me wants to go back for a night and see thm all in one of their respective plays. I've made contact with my acting teacher!! She lives in New Jersey and can't want to touch base with her!!
