Drinks and wings

Yesterday was one of those days where I was watching every 10 minutes to leave. The time to leave couldn't come fast enough. And of course we were stuck with Mr. Anal-Retentive-Manager at closing. Grrr. Ordinarily we can bug out of the store about 30 minutes after the last customer leaves, but noooooo he kept on making up stuff for us to do.

After work me and a coworker went for drinks and wings at this place near my house. For the record that was the best rum and coke I've had in life! Tuesday nights I guess aren't supposed to be rocking, but this place was dead. The amusing bit were these 2 guys and 2 girls who were gettin' a lil tipsy. Then the song Lean Back by Terror Squad came on, a song I happen to love I may add, but those 2 managed to taint for me as they tried and failed miserably in dancing to it. The beat is SO easy!! Come on!

Best Burger BK ever

Burger King has the BEST burger to come out of a fast food joint in a long ass time. It's called the Angus burger and it's a fat, 1/3 lb. of a burger. I got the bacon and cheese Angus burger, and that thing must have some kind of sauce in there too and grilled onions. You need to check this burger out if you're into red meat, bacon, cheese, and grilled onions! I ate that thing so slow savoring it. Mad cow disease is probably in my future, but I'll be happy. Still I crave Jack-in-the-Box from the west coast. Kick ass burger joints east coast people are missing out on, in no particular order:
1. In-n-Out - the double-double with cheese, freshly cut real potato fries, and a lemondade. WOW
2. Carl's Junior - Superstar this thing is HUGE. Their slogan used to be, "if it doesn't get all over the place, it doesn't belong in your face." Some of the messiest burgers EVER.
3. Hamburger Habit - ANY burger on their menu, those things are fresh and cooked to serve for you. I think their native only to the Central Coast of California, but they need to go out and open more restaurants.
4. Fat Burger - the name speaks for itself! They make the BEST chili-cheese fries. Their burgers are fat, hot, greasy and damned good. And their fries, you can get steak fries or normal skinny fries. Mmmm.

Everyday observations

It's no secret that I love my car. I don't worship it per se like some sort of 21st century golden calf, but I'm happy and blessed to have the car that I do. One of my favorite features of my car is the fact that it's paid for and I own it outright. One day Tasha and I were talking, shortly after I got the pink slip (sucker ain't even pink) for my car I told her that I was going to go wash it. At which point she said, yea, you're gonna wash your car. Nice. Since my baby is really my baby, I take special care during maintenance services, like for example when I had the most recent oil change I had them use Penzoil oil for higher mileage cars. Also with every oil change I drop a bottle of injector cleaner in the next full tank. Now I don't know which of whatever was done to my car that resulted in today's observation, but my car was pushing 370 miles on the same tank. The light hadn't come on yet and I wasn't in that dreaded orange area down at the bottom. Doing some rough math, I averaged about 23MPG on this last tank. For my 3.1 V6, that is hot!

Today's other observation came about from hanging with Elise at her place. She had a number of Victoria's Secret catalogs lying around and being the visually stimulated guy that I am who loves to see beautiful women in lingerie, I picked one of them up. Elise had dog eared some of the pages and I tried to guess which stuff she liked. Well that didn't work that well, I got like may be 3 out of 12. Anyway, as I was flipping through the pages something jumped out at me: most of the women modeling the clothes could use a sandwich or 2. Granted the models were tall and well suited for runway work and the like, but they had no business modeling jeans, pants, skirt or any garmet thar required a differentiation in measurements about the waists and hips. Is this the thing in thing? What in popular culture passes for *hot* these days? Good lord, eat a sandwich! As Elise and I were heading for IHOP, a twig walked by in front of my car and yelled, "eat a sandwich!!"

Here's the kicker: Unless I'm smoking crack, the women who model the clothes aren't usually the same women who model the lingerie, at least for this catalog I was looking at. From an editorial and photographic standpoint, yes this makes total sense. Some models are better suited for hanging clothes on, versus lingerie. However, do women out there really pick up on the fact that they leave the clothes modeling to the anorexic twigs who have the measurements of a 2x4, and then leave the modeling of lingerie, especially bras to women who can actually fill them out? Tyra and company don't look that good in VS bras because the padding, design, whatever is on point. Tyra and company look that good because they have the stuff to fill it out!

Sloth - to hell with that sin...

I have the best bed in the world. Truly the best bed. I got the bed after my back got messed up and was working at a department store that sold beds. Before I left there I got my hands on a firm, pillow top queen sized bed. On my bed I have 4 huge pillows that make lounging and sleeping in an utter treat. Today I slept in till about 1PM because it was my day off and had little to do today. OMG it was awesome.

To recap the weekend...

I drove up to DE on Friday, but before I drove up I met up with Elise in Maryland. We ate at this joint that did chilli about 50 different ways. The really remarkable thing was in the shopping center, was a DRIVE THRU Starbucks!!! How freakin' awesome is THAT?! I couldn't have that near my house. I'd be hopped up on caffeine all damned day.

Saturday I hung out in DE and watched movies. Some how they got a copy of Hero, the new Jet Li flick, because they had some friends who went to China and brough a copy back. It was a legit copy, replete with Chinese menu options. I wouldn't say the movie was better than Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, but it was one of the most visually stunning movies I've seen in a long time. It reminds me of a cross between Robin Williams', What Dreams May Come and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.

Saturday evening Nils and I did BBQ, the old fashioned awesome way. We got ourselves 2 huge slabs of pork ribs and I prepped the ribs with a spice rub. Nils handled the grill. He kept the grill between 200-250 for about 4 hours and we finished the ribs in the oven. Those suckers came out sooooo good.

Sunday, I drove back to DE and worked all day. Afterwards I went to the movies with Elise and we saw Collateral. If you've seen Heat, and liked it, you'll like Collateral. You'll also notice a lot of the similarities between the 2 films. Both movies are shot with a similar style, both movies have a character with the name Vincent, and both are of course shot in LA. Highly recommend seeing this bad boy.

Lucy I'm Home!

Well ain't this something, no entry on the Treehouse! The last 3 weeks have been hell on blogging. Let's see what have I been up to, yes - WEDDINGS!! Grrr!! Not only weddings but all that goes into pulling off a wedding. If you ever read on here that I ran off to Vegas and got married, this would be why. All that of that time and expense and head ache and fights, for a day that lasts only 12 hours, but the bills and left overs last even longer. Ok, may be that's a bit too harsh, but it is really a pain in the ass.

The oddest thing happened though, I started thinking about what would my wedding be like. Who would I invite, what kinda cermony, etc. And the only part of the wedding that I really care about is the reception. Open bar, dance floor - nuff said!
