One Productive Ass Weekend

This weekend was absofrigginlutely productive! I simply have no words for, not what was done, but also how it was done. I hate blatant, bold face, shallow displays of piety. It's one of my top pet peeves. I consider myself a spiritual person, but I don't subscribe to any man-made religion. That all having been said, I am blessed. And I am so thankful for the opportunities that I have. There is no friggin' way that I could've gotten where I am on my own. No damned way at all. Thanks go to God, my family and my dear friends.

This weekend, I was able to:
- register my car
- renew my license
- renew my car insurance
- smog my car
- sign the lease on my apartment
- kick it with some new fun people
- explore a bit of downtown San Diego

For some people this may be minor things, but for me, they are very significant accomplishments. Accomplishments which would never have made possible without all of that aforementioned help.

At work I have 5 projects on my plate. Some of them have been assigned, some have been inherited, and 1 in particular is my own baby. I'm going to remind those people why they hired me.

House Party meets GGW

I had a plan. My plan was to renew my license and register my car in California, on the same day. No multiple trips. No back and forth. To pull off this plan, the car had to be smogged, insurance current, and most importantly I had to find a DMV that would be open on a Saturday. And that task was NOT easily accomplished!! I searched for DMVs between San Diego and Glendale in hopes of finding one that would let me do both tasks within an hour or so each other. Almost everywhere was booked. I finally found one in Oceanside, 45 minutes north and booked those appointments with the quickness!

There was another challenge to overcome: I had gotten home at about 3:45AM and the appointments were at 9:15AM and 10:15AM respectively. Meaning I had to leave by about 8:30AM to make the appointments. Draggin' ass doesn't even begin to describe how I felt. I am loathe to see what my new DL picture is gonna look like.

Later that evening my cousin and I went downtown to play pool. This place was so friggin' cool!! I need to go back there. There was a DJ after about 9PM spinning some good stuff. However, while I was rocking out to the music, my cousin was beating me!! I stopped and went, hold up - I'm down 4 to 1! Don't call it a come back! It came down to him sinking the 8 ball to win and I TOLD him, do NOT mess around - you need to win this game. Don't let me get back into it! But he didn't. He was playing too conservatively trying not to scratch on the 8. Well, then I cowboy'd up sank my last 3 balls and the 8 ball on a single turn. He shoulda listened!! I won best of 7, 4-3 to me.

At about 11:30PM I headed to Jamul (read that as middle of nowhere) to a house party one of my SB friends invited me to. This place was like in the country! But the party made up for for the remote locale. A couple of the guys there were bartenders, and they mixed their asses off...serving up shots and good drinks. Did I mention a lot of these chick were/are sorority girls? Yea, um, parts of the even had me thinking I stepped into Girls Gone Wild! I got a TON of fun pics, but after reviewing them I suspect a lot of them will NOT make it onto the Treehouse! haha! Such a fun ass night!

Oh yea, the theme of the party was 'MTV'. You had to show up looking as close as you could to some notable who has appeared on MTV. There was: Kanye West (pink polo shirt and all), Carmen Electra, Jessica Simpson, Kid Rock, Prince, Tara Reid, John Holmes, Gwen Stafani and 'an average white boy' haha! I went as Wyclef...haha! Among the night's highlights was a long string of lapdances (I gave and recieved) and bad karaoke...haha!

CA Address

I hate shopping. I hate shopping more than I hate...damn can't even think of another activity that I have the same level of disdain for. I hate shopping for clothes and can't relate to people who derive pleasure in doing so as a *fun* activity. Recently I went to Ross and knocked them over, because I was waaaay overdue for replacing some essential stuff.

Tonight concluded my apartment shopping/hunting. And it wasn't an easy process. A verbal arrangement I made with my previous complex came back to bite me in the butt. It was straighted out though and finally resolved. I'm really stoked to be in the place! I'm on the 2nd floor, with no one above me. Also, I only share 2 walls with my neighbors, one of which is a closet. After 2+ years I have finally have a CA address again!!

After dropping off my deposit, I met up with my coworkers for happy hour and pool. It was good to experience them out of the office. Thankfully we didn't talk shop AT ALL. As a matter of fact, I ended being the fly on the wall as 2 coworkers were trading restaurant stories; where to go, where to avoid, et al. One of them is this guy who does restaurant rating/tastings so he gets the inside info on a lot of places. I gotta get those guys to make up a list!!

Then it was off to this dive bar/dance place with my friend Jennifer. I wonder how popular the name 'Jennifer' is, because I currenly know a lot of Jennifers AND have known a lot of other Jennifers. Anyway, this place was kinda ghetto but fun. There was this white guy (helps to know this), who looked ripped and worked out and what not - but could NOT friggin' dance to save his life!! I was just thinking, that a g-damn waste!! And the girl he was dancing with was no better! She spent her time alternating between fixing her stop, which kept slipping down...I was hoping she would have a *wardrobe malfunction* which would at least make up for the pitiful display that was going on.

Loving Life!!

I am so much happier now! I have a job that is really cool, although it is busting my ass to get up to speed! I'm living in the city I've always wanted to live in for the longest time. And I'm busy!! Man oh man! After being on lock down on the East Coast, it is good to be back in the CA sun and nightlife!

Even though things are looking up, there is still a lot of work to do. Like getting better acclimated at my job. I have total confidence I can pull it off, just need the proper training to do it. There are a ton of affordable apartments all over the place, the challenge now is finding one that meets my criteria. I'm looking for a 2BR, W/D, patio, gas range and concrete or good sound insulation. And near the main freeway I need to get to work.

Making things work is going to take a lot of work, sacrifice and a bit of creativity in thinking up ways TO make things work. But I am totally up for the challenge!

Lame Ass Night Life

Tonight was an impromptu happy hour and visit downtown with one of my buddies. We went to this totally dive bar in University Heights. Cheap drinks, fun convo, and a totally empty place to just talk. It was great. Only thing that sucked was the juke box hardly had any decent tunes.

Afterwards she called one of her contacts up and got us into a club downtown. Club Confidential. If you're reading this, don't waste your time!! I'm glad I didn't have to pay a cover to get it - the place sucked ass! The DJ was horrible. Spinning random mixes of hip hop, from different decades. 1 song in like 5 was a hit, the other 4 were some random undanceable crap you couldn't even tap your foot to. The was a lesson in, things definitely can look one way on the outside and completely different once you get up in the situation.

Weekend's End

Sigh, Sunday has got to be one my LEAST favorite days of the week! Next to Mondays! haha! Anyway, the night before Cami had some booze in her and decided to passionately remind that I had promised to make brunch for the house. It was sooo funny! There I was standing half alseep, while she pointed her finger at me declaring I WAS going to be making that damned quiche and there would be NO deviations in the menu...haha! And the quiche came out very well. I would have to say some of my best!

On the way back to SD, I stopped off to visit with Julia at a local bar. Instead of booze, I had a couple of energy drinks for the road. We sat there and bitched and moaned about the things we both hated about dating. Dr. Phil shoulda been taking notes!! LOL

More melodrama - well performed this time!

Today was the whole point of me being here, to see Cami in her new melodrama in Carp. She was sooo freaking funny! Some people thing that comedy is easy; crack a joke and get an instant positive reaction from the audience. Not so much! The timing has to be on point, enunciation has to be done clearly and loud enough. She was really good! Reminded me so much of how much I loved acting.

After the play we went over to one of their friend's houses that was nearby. Tiramisu. From scratch. Tiramisu. They had a pan of Tiramisu they made from scratch!! It was dense and creamy and delicous! OMG. And they also had this almond champagne...that was just off da chain! Sigh. I'm done. LOL

Melodrama on State St

I left work a little early today to drive up to SB. Tonight I was meeting up with a buddy to do some waaaay overdue dancing and a bit of drinking. However my decided to bring her ex and the ex ended up just going on and on their old relationhip and blah blah. WTF?!!? Like I'm gonna sit there and listen to you bitch at my friend. Anyway, Wild Cat was really really fun! The DJ was hot! The place wasn't too packed and the vibe was kicking! Thank you Julia!!
