July 2001Mollie:
15-year-old daughter to my good friends Cami and John. Who is she? She
is a scholar, an athlete, a great friend, and did I mention actress??
The girl can act! She gets mad props! She was a secretary in the 1970's
play, "How to Succeed In [email me] [speak on it] [top] Friday, July 28, 2001 Another night out with Jelena - woohaa! This girl cracks me up! She laughs all the time and you HAVE to smile with her! This was the second time meeting up with Trish and Shannon, but this time we didn't dance. Awwww. I found them in looking for Jelena, cause she disappeared with some Brazillian boy of hers and I had to go find her. [email me] [speak on it] [top] Thursday, July 27, 2001 It's weird whenever I introduce a new person into my Journal, I try to attach some sort of meaning to that person. Not just for people reading the journals, but for myself when I go back to read it. This brings me to Jelena. What can we say about her…hmmm? She's this petite, really fun to kick it with Croatian girl I met last year through Aparna. It was also Aparna who got us back in touch with each other via email. 5 days later, a couple of emails and phone calls, we're at Sharkeez shaking our asses! And the girl can shake it! Cool thing is she doesn't drink also, so whenever we go out its all about the dancing! Speaking of dancing, the funniest thing happened! While Jelena was off dancing with her friends, we sort of got separated, so I do what I always do - dance with myself. Haha! I end up dancing with this FINE girl…olive complexion, butt like an apple, picturesque facial features and can dance like you would NOT believe. I don't know what happened, but we separated and I went to the bathroom. After coming back from the bathroom I was meandering around the edge of the dance floor. In truth I was looking for the girl I was just dancing with. Well I didn't end up finding her, SHE found me! She grabbed me by the arm and told me I had to dance with her…like I'm going to object! She said she had a boyfriend and all she wanted to do was dance. Which was fine by me cause, all I wanted to do that night was dance - perfect! I danced with her and her friend the rest of the night! It was too damn fun! Shannon was who I was dancing with and Trish was her friend. Trish is blonde, very cute, sweet freaking smile. I liked these 2 immediately. [email me] [speak on it] [top] Sunday, July 22, 2001 Today is Mollie's 15th birthday!! Damn I feel like I'm getting old! I think we met when she was 13. She is the bomb diggity! She is also the busiest 15 years old I have EVER met. Between her jobs, school, sports, and God knows what else one can get tired simply catching up! As part of my present to her, I offered to take pictures of her birthday party. My actual present will be a mini photo-shoot for her. Personally, I think there were too many boys there, but hey it was her party and I'm a little protective…haha. [email me] [speak on it] [top] Saturday, July 21, 2001 How do you define a good day? World class vegging at home? Hours at the gym? Extra time at the office? A good day to me is a balance of all those and others. Well of course, sometimes an emphasis on either. ; - ) Today was a good day for me. Got most of my dreaded filing done - yuck. Paid a bunch of people - eww. My room is relatively habitable again - woohoo! Ended the day clubbing with Tara (not my friend from LA; my Belizean play sister) at Q's. Which leads to the funny part of the night. We get something to drink, find a booth on the 2nd floor and were just chilling. Tara wanted a lemon wedge or something, goes to get one. 5 minutes go by. Then another 5. (Insert Jeopardy music playing in the background at this point) I look in the direction she went and she's over there talking it up with some fellow. I almost died laughing! We cannot go ANYWHERE without her being intercepted by some guy! It is too damn funny! After awhile of waiting it became clear that this was going to go on for awhile and just as I was leaving to the dance floor, she comes by giggling. Haha! Kids! That was the last I saw of her. 30 minutes into the club and she has gone undercover. Haha! I'm dancing, working out the stress of the week through the music. There is nothing better than finding your groove, rhythm, however you want to call it. It's something…special…profound…the right word escapes me. I was there. It was tight. Aside: Ended up dancing with this red head for part of the night. Breathtaking woman, with moves that would make Jennifer Lopez jealous. Danced a few times and she was even there (out of the blue!) at the booth with Tara and her 'friend' (lol) were at when I went to check on her to see how/where she was. What do I you? Nada. Rien. Bupkis. Not a damn thing. The opportunity to AT LEAST talk to this woman was there, but I blew it. And of course, spent the rest of the night kicking myself for not doing so when I had the chance. Yeeesh!! Game. Tony's dictionary defines game as the ability to strike up a conversation with a person you find intriguing, for whatever purposes, moral/immoral, ethical/unethical and hold this person's attention. I have no game. I am the anti-game. Lol! I can strike up conversations for purely benign purposes, but when it comes to actually TALKING to a girl in that way, I turn into an idiot savant. Sigh. I am determined to acquire this skill!!! [email me] [speak on it] [top] Friday, July 20, 2001 Lake Los Carneros is definitely one of those hidden jewels of Santa Barbara. Some people don't even know there is a lake in SB. Yup there is! Once upon a time I remembered the ride from my house being about 30 minutes, and I would be all huffing and puffing. On the way back I timed it: 18 minutes. It's amazing how fast the body can get used to increased activity. At the lake, I went to my favorite spot…this secluded picturesque place on the back of the river with an incredible view of the lake. Off to the right, tall reed towering 6 to 8 feet about the water's surface. To the left the sun hangs low in the horizon this time of day, creating this shimmering effect on the surface. There I sat and thought about my goals, present situation with work and school, and the place I want to be. Time to get to work. :-) Oh yea, I rented a couple of movies, among them was Proof of Life starring Russell Crowe and Meg Ryan. I don't usually like to listen to critics when picking a movie, and Crowe is my boy with this fine work on Gladiator. I have to say though, this movie bit the big one! I found myself skipping whole chapters (a DVD feature for the uninitiated). It was slow, plots and subplots took AWAY from the movie instead of adding, and the performances were just painful! lol [email me] [speak on it] [top] Thursday, July 19, 2001 Getting back into jogging is kicking my butt, but I'm determined to do it! I want my endurance back! Once upon a time I could do 3 miles without stopping…that's my new goal. Yea sure you could denounce running because it's murder on the knees and other vital body parts. However, I totally love solo sports activities. Stuff that pit you against yourself or one other person, hence my thing for tae kwon do. My body is punishing me for taking this long frigging hiatus from running. I'm determined to preserve. My father emailed, announcing that Jenice and him are planning a family vacation. The spot looks like Havasu. There are talks of a houseboat, personal water crafts and the like. I've never been on a family vacation. I've heard about them and how most people tend to dislike them…gets old, boring or whatever. I don't share those sentiments. [email me] [speak on it] [top] Sunday, July 15, 2001 French toast breakfast and good-bye; last time we saw each other was a year ago with the Nelly's new album, now we hook up again after a year, and the St. Lunatics release haha Tip for all my friends: Do not talk about some dish you like to make or are known for around me. Why? Cause you will be put on the spot to make it! Yesterday Tara got to talking about her Grandma's French toast. Who told her to bring that up?? I made her make me a batch for breakfast…haha. Um, excuse me, I asked very nicely but poignantly for a batch. Haha! They were the bomb! Her secret is…well I can't divulge that…suffice it to say they are off the hook! After breakfast she went back to LA, and I was left to my own devices. Aside: I miss my boys! There is a disproportionately high number of females in my life. Don't get me wrong, I do have male friends, but most are in LA or back east or in the BA. There are also some guys here that I consider my boys, and they get props: Dave, John and Micheal. I might have to plan a man get together…ask the fellas to ditch their wives for the night haha. (Let's see how much heat I eat for that one! Haha!) [email me] [speak on it] [top] Saturday, July 14, 2001 Helped Dave and Eydie move, tight house - I want one!, 3BR, 2BA with an office. It was built from scratch so they are the first people to live in it. How cool is that? They got to pick out carpet colors, cabinets, tiles and all that. My mind would have imploded for having to make all those decision. Their house is TIGHT. Figured out what the hell happened to my amp, the bloody turn on wire was disconnected! Grrr!! I can be such a moron. After see Fast and the Furious, I want to upgrade my ride! Can't add a turbo or a supercharger cause the GM 3.1 V6, would "fall out of the bottom" haha. However, hmm…how about performance headers, K&N air filter, front and rear anti-sway bars, full cat back exhaust, 17" rims, and lowering about it about 1.5"? Without running a dyno, I think the car is running 165HP, and 175 ft. lbs. Of torque (taken from the GM specifications). I would like to raise that to 220-230HP. As it stands, I eat stock Accords, Civics, and most other stock 4 bangers for breakfast! However they have me on weight and top end…gotta do something about that! My friend Tara from last year is paying me a visit! It's been a freaking year since I saw her The last we met it was around the release of Nelly's last album, and now he is on the St. Lunatics…is this a trend?? Lol We went downtown, and the girl lost her mind in a Pier One. Too damn funny! I also watched her turn into a big kid at the sight of Baskin Robbins. We did a lot of people watching…let's see the body count: some homeless guy having a great conversation with himself, this guy cruising (for what I couldn't tell ya!) in a red Trans AM playing '80's rock too loud for his sound system, a bunch of hoochies (see my Top Ten), and think that's it. Later that night we went to dinner at The Rocks. It was tight. More people watching, great food, awesome convo, I was a happy camper. After dinner we went for a walk and talk down by the beach. The discussion surrounded the perplexing habits of men and women and our responses those, um, issues hahahaa… Like we're exempt - ha! lol! [email me] [speak on it] [top] Friday, July 13, 2001 Tonight a bunch of pictures were scanned…after seeing the results I am VERY happy with my scanner purchase. For only $120, I got a kick but, fast and clear scanner. All I need is Photoshop 6…that will come shorty. Tasha called with a serious problem: someone emailed her with 300Z for sale. This is seirous cause for pause. It was a twin turbo, 6 spd., and in the metallic blue she wanted. Should she get it now or wait and go with her original plan?? Dang…was having a Speed flash back… 'what do you do?!'. She is also inspired by the F&F movie. I appreciate a woman who can appreciate a fine automobile. :-) [email me] [speak on it] [top] Thursday, July 12, 2001 Met with Chris at Starbuck's to talk about the possibility of being roomies in SD. Good news and bad news. Good news, she will probably get to live with a friend of hers in a big PHAT house, for a lot less rent than she would have to pay if we were roomies. Bad news? I don't get to home to a beautiful woman every night…haha! Ok this is disgusting, I have to mention this: Chris and I met after she ran 5 miles…and even THEN she was still freaking fine! S'up with that?!! She got a younger sister out there some where??? Haha! [email me] [speak on it] [top] Sunday, July 8, 2001 This day can be summed up in one sentence: Julie and I broke up. I'm not going to go into the specifics, because it is not for public consumption. Prior to the break up, there was a great brunch, participated in the Talent-less Gong Show again…me and some of the boys there did a G-Rated Ladies Man skit. I was Leon Phelps and Max and Skyler called up with 'probs'…like they could have romantic issues in the 8th grade! Lol Went on this long trolley ride and had a great guide who pointed out some really cool things about SB's history that was totally new! Honorable food mention: Woody's tri-tip was off da hook! They brought most of the meat…good stuff!! [email me] [speak on it] [top] Saturday, July 7, 2001 Beach part of Hodge Podge and this year's activity was making masks and my claustrophobia kicked in. The thought of having something cover my face like that didn't help either. It was a great Central Coast day. We were kinda worried, cause it had rained a couple of days before. Friday, July 6, 2001 Today was the first day of Hodge…Julie drove up. [email me] [speak on it] [top] Wednesday, July 4, 2001 Kicking it LA with the family, driving there was interesting, playing checkers for the first time in ages!! Cousins are coo'! Well my cousins are coo'! Bobby, Jason, Tracy, their sisters (whose names are escaping me right now - sowwy!), and big Bobby. We spent most of the 4th either playing Bones or kicking it by the pool. Tight. Family, friends, games…the simple things are sometimes the best things. It was funny, cause we were at this person's house where we had a view of the fireworks above the Rose Bowl. Well, when the fireworks started and we were still playing Bones. The guys at the table said, screw it and kept on playing! Too damn funny!! Sunday, July 1, 2001 Where the hell did the year go!? It's July already!? I have no words! [email me] [speak on it] [top] |
